We hope you have been enjoying your summer as much as we have at the Becky Gates Children’s Center! The children and teachers have enjoyed spending time outside engaging in fun activities such as water play, outdoor art exploration, and messy mud play. We hope you are finding time to get outside as a family. Be sure to read our family articles this month about water and hot car safety.

We are excited to welcome back Nursing 413 students to our classrooms. These students get the opportunity to engage with young children and learn more about their health and development. Nursing students will be here on Fridays during the summer months.

We are in the process of updating our handbooks. We will send out an update in July once all suggestions and edits have been approved.

We are also in the process of renewing our Texas Rising Star (TRS) certification. BGCC currently has a 4-star rating. Texas Rising Star is a quality rating and improvement system for Texas early childhood programs. We are measured on four categories:

1. Director and Staff Qualifications and Training
2. Teacher-Child Interactions
3. Program Administration
4. Indoor/Outdoor Learning Environments
