This Summer we are enjoying having some former students back at our center for our school age program. The program is lead by some of our amazing teaching assistants; Megan Walla, Meredith Sizer, Kaylin Wright, and Grace Callen. They have planned endless fun activities and lessons to fill their summer days.

Megan is a senior EC-6 major and is also pursuing a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. “I have always wanted to be a teacher, so I started working with children during High School and continued to do so throughout college. I have been a substitute teacher, a Summer Camp counselor for College Station ISD this past summer, and a counselor for their afterschool program during the school year as well!”

Meredith is also a senior EC-6 major and wants to become an elementary school teacher upon graduation. “! I will be graduating next spring and plan to teach in the Houston area! I have been working with children since I was 16 and have experience with children ranging from infants to 7th grade. In the past, I’ve been a Kids Klub counselor, a summer school counselor, a tutor, a student teacher, and an assistant teacher at a daycare and preschool with younger kiddos! A fun fact about me is I lived in Atyrau, Kazakhstan when I was in elementary school! One thing I’m super excited for this summer is getting to play with the kids outside and getting to plan and participate in all the fun and active games!”

Kaylin is also a senior education major pursuing her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. “My experience with kids includes working as a kids camp counselor, a swim instructor, and a kids club leader. I have also observed different classrooms and helped teach small groups/whole class instruction. I am looking forward to seeing the kids use their creative ideas to learn and work together in order to build a unique and special learning environment this summer!”

Grace is a junior education major. “I am getting my certification in early childhood to sixth grade. I previously served in the children’s ministry at Grace Bible Church as an assistant teacher, and I am also a substitute teacher for Bryan ISD. This summer I am super excited to see where our creativity takes us.”

We are so happy to have each of these ladies as assistant teachers for our summer program this semester. We cannot wait to see all the creative activities and lessons they come up with!
