HOWDY FAMILIES AND FRIENDS!

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and getting outside more. I enjoy taking walks after dinner with my family. It is a great time to connect with your children and have wonderful conversations. You also can learn many new things while taking a walk. Maybe you hear an interesting noise and investigate. Maybe you see a cloud shaped like an animal. Maybe you see an interesting bug with lots of colors. Do you feel the wind on your face? Do you wonder what makes the wind blow? I like to take deep breaths of fresh air when I walk outside. Taking deep breaths increases oxygen to the brain and helps you feel calm. What do you like to do as a family?

We want to thank all of our families for your continued support during these difficult and uncertain times. We are proud to be of service to those parents who must continue to work. We are looking forward to when more children are able to join us. We are proud to uphold the highest level of safety and sanitation. We will continue to follow all policies and regulations to ensure the safest environment. We will continue to notify families via email of any updates as we receive them.

In the month of May, some of the days or holidays recognized are: May Day, Star Wars Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, National Teacher Day, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Ramadan Eid al-Fitr, Memorial Day, and Shavuoth.

May Day marks the change in season. I’ve never danced around a May pole; however, I did deliver May Day baskets to my neighbors. I would make a basket out of paper, and either put real flowers or homemade flowers in the basket, and leave on my neighbor’s front porch as a surprise. I bet you can make a flower out of materials you have at home. Who will you give your flower to? What a fun way to brighten spirits!

Cinco de Mayo and Teacher Day are on the same day and what a perfect match, teachers love tacos! Cinco de Mayo celebrates our country’s rich Mexican culture and heritage. It is celebrated with parties, mariachi music, Mexican folk dancing and traditional foods such as tacos! Our children were able to see Aggieland Mariachi and Texas A&M Ballet Folklorico this past year, and it was great!

Teacher Appreciation Week and National Teacher Day occur in May. This is a great time to reach out to your child’s teacher and thank them for the lasting contributions they make on your child.

Memorial Day is May 25. The center will be closed on Memorial Day. On Memorial Day we commemorate the people who died while serving the United States of America. Time is spent remembering those who lost their lives to fight for the freedoms we have in America today. You will see many American Flags on Memorial Day.

Eid al Fitr is May 24 marking the end of Ramadan. “Eid” means celebration and many will be feasting! The Shavuoth festival begins the evening of May 28 and ends in the evening of May 30.
