HOWDY FAMILIES AND FRIENDS!

We are excited to announce that the Becky Gates Children’s Center is transitioning from the Division of Student Affairs to the Division of Academic & Strategic Collaborations on June 1, 2022. The Becky Gates Children’s Center will have a new reporting structure to the Vice President for Academic & Strategic Collaborations. We are looking forward to the many great opportunities provided to us under this newly created division.

We still have a few summer school age spaces available. Click here if you are interested in sending your child. The school age summer program is for children who have completed 1st -4th grades. Enrollment is weekly for the summer school age program.

The last Family Advisory Board (FAB) meeting of the 2021-2022 year is May 9. Let us know if you would like items added to the agenda.

Playground Updates

Our playground was the kickoff event for the Brazos County Chapter of the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children ECE Conference on April 9, 2022. We were happy to give tours of our amazing playground and discuss the highly collaborative project. The playground project story was presented at the conference the following day.

We now have our activity area signs in place and the final finishing touches are soon to be complete. Thank you, SSC, for designing and installing the amazing signs! We will soon begin the certification processes. We are applying for OLE Texas! state certification and Nature Explore Classroom national certification.

In addition, a brief synopsis of the article published by the College of Architecture will be in the Summer 2022 edition of Spirit Magazine, Texas A&M Foundation.

Gardening Area on Playground

Learn, Grow, Eat & GO!

All classrooms are currenlty using the Learn, Grow, Eat & GO! Junior Master Gardener Curriculum from AgriLife Extension. This study is hands-on, multifaceted, and academically rich. Every classroom has a designated garden on the playground. Check out the carrots recently harvested by our Gig ‘Em classroom! In addition, our Pre-K classrooms are piloting the new Early Childhood version!

May Loose Parts Collection

Thank you for donating to our bottle caps collection in April. In May, we will be collecting natural materials such as small rocks/stones, pebbles, acorns, pinecones, sticks, shells, etc. There will be a basket in the front lobby where you can drop off your donations!
