Center Spotlight: A Year in Review

Wow, we cannot believe we made it around the sun another year, and what an eventful year it has been! We welcomed new families, celebrated holidays and special days making many wonderful memories along the way. This time of year, we enjoy looking back and reminiscing on those memories and we wanted to share a few with you.

We Walked Across Texas

All of our classrooms increased their miles from the previous year. In fact, our first place classroom increased the miles they walked by 203%! The Whoop classroom came in first place with a whopping 428 miles followed by the Aggie classroom with 419 miles.

Week of the Young Child

In April, we celebrated Week of the Young Child recognizing early learning, young children, their teachers and families! To celebrate, we had a different theme each day, Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday. It is important to spread the word about the importance of high-quality early learning. Children’s earliest years have the largest impact on shaping their learning and development. We are looking forward to the upcoming dates April 6-12, 2024.

Texas Aggie Yell Leaders Visit

This was the first year we had the Aggie Yell Leaders visit BGCC. We had the best time and cannot wait for them to visit us every year from now on. They may have said we were their favorite visit of the year too.

Mud Day

We LOVE International Mud Day and look forward to it every year!

End of Summer Bash

We beat the heat of summer with treats from Frios Gourmet Pops. Families had the opportunity to enjoy popsicles on the playground with friends and family! It was the perfect opportunity to have everyone join together to celebrate the end of the school year and to welcome the start of the new school year.

Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center (CSCC) Joining our Family

Texas A&M University purchased the Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center in August. This makes CSCC the second childcare center under Texas A&M. BCCC and CSCCC will work alongside each other to provide the highest quality of childcare for Texas A&M’s families.

Picnic on the Playground

This was a picnic-perfect day spent with our families including our friends and families from CSCC. We enjoyed spending time on our nature playground, playing games, and enjoying food from various food truck vendors.

25th Anniversary Celebration

Recently, we proudly celebrated our 25th anniversary with several special guests. Guests such as Becky Gates, Dorothy McFerrin and Texas A&M University Interim President General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III were in attendance. In addition to special guests and visitors, KBTX also aired the event live. The event consisted of students sharing their experiences and BGCC Director, Erica Ritter, walked everyone through the history of the center. This significant milestone marks 25 years of opening the gates to a lifetime of learning for our youngest aggies. We held activities such as a memory walk, fingerprint canvas, pumpkin patch and the Scholastic Book Fair. We cannot wait to see what the next 25 years bring!

Fall Family Feast

One of our favorite annual events is our Fall Family Feast. Our families and staff enjoyed a meal of turkey, wild rice, green beans, sweet potatoes, rolls and cookies prepared by our amazing cook, Edwinna, and her crew. Families were able to visit with each other while enjoying a meal together.
