Center Spotlight: Learning About Liz

As the administrative coordinator at BGCC since 2022, Liz Schulze knew she found her passion at Texas A&M. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication. In her role as administrative coordinator, she hopes to continue building more efficient processes in order to better her skills and do her job more effectively.

Liz’s job description varies in day-to-day tasks, such as being in charge of enrollment, supervision of front desk staff, payroll, and processing tuition payments among other tasks. She also completes many of the behind the scenes tasks that go unnoticed. Liz works hard to plan and coordinate special events such as our professional development days and the 25th anniversary celebration.

“When I was going through high school and college, I helped in various childcare settings.” Liz shared. “I stumbled upon this job posting which combined my love for early childhood education and my want for an administrative role.” This position allows her to combine her passions of childcare and administrative work.

“Though not everyday is easy, knowing the work that we are doing here is impacting the next generation that is going out into the world makes it all worth it,” Schulze said. “Being able to be a part of that impact of who the next generation is and what that next generation looks like is incredible.”

Her work is important, but she also enjoys pursuing her hobbies outside of the workplace. Liz enjoys crafting and creating things with her cricut such as paper crafts and vinyl. She taught herself basic hand embroidery techniques. She also enjoys completing puzzles and listening to audio books.

Liz also enjoys spending time outdoors. Being out in nature is a great way to relieve stress and help keep her work life balance. Her fiance and her take trips to Lick Creek Park where they enjoy being away and taking a mental break. Sometimes they bird watch or take walks, other times they just sit and appreciate everything around them. Her fiance proposed during spring break 2023 and they fill their free time with wedding planning as well. Accompanying them at home are their two cats, Gizmo and Murphy.

Helping build the next generation inspires Liz daily, and she hopes for that inspiration to carry onto those around her. Nearing her two year anniversary at BGCC, she is eager to see what the future holds.
