HOWDY FAMILIES AND FRIENDS!

We met the requirement for Cognia Accreditation!

Cognia accredits schools that serve students from age “infant” to adult. As an early learning school, Cognia accreditation is the “first step” in the full spectrum of accredited institutions available to each student and his/her education progresses through the years.

Cognia was created through a 2006 merger of the PreK-12 divisions of the North Central Association (NCA) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), then expanded through the 2011 acquisition of the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and further expanded our offerings to schools with a merger in 2018 with Measured Progress.

The Engagement Review process stimulates and guides continuous improvement through the focus on:

  • Care and safety of children
  • Quality of learning environments
  • Effectiveness of instruction and curriculum
  • Capacity of leadership
  • Use of resources

Powerful Practices

  1. The establishment of Family Advisory Board support strong relationships between administration, teachers and families.
  2. The university administration provides an abundance of professional staff and services that supports the integrity and delivery of the curriculum and the operations of the school.
  3. The school’s leadership team, teachers, and families participate in a cohesive climate that supports the purpose and direction of the school.

Improvement Priority

Increase the written assessment reporting periods shared with families from three to four to document the child’s progress in their learning, growth, and development.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Becky Gates Children’s Center!

Read Across America

The Becky Gates Children’s Center celebrates Read Across America Day annually on March 2. This year all guest readers will read virtually via zoom.

Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading, launched in 1998 by the National Education Association. This year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.

Picture Day

Playground Progress

The children have enjoyed watching the construction occur outside their classroom windows. They are learning about tools, machinery, materials, the earth and so much more. Lots of questions are being asked and imaginations are running high. Demo is almost complete and the next phase of excavating will begin!
