Kitchen Gear

  • Medium pot with lid
  • Pot holders
  • Colander or strainer
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 (1-pound) bag frozen edamame (in their pods)
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Put 1 inch of water and the edamame pods in the pot and put the lid on. (The water won’t cover them, and this is fine; it’s really the steam that will cook them.)
  2. Put the pot on the stove and turn the heat to high. Once you see steam coming out from under the lid, cook the edamame pods until they are bright green and still firm, about 10 minutes.
  3. Put the colander in the sink, carefully drain the edamame pods, and put them in the serving bowl.
  4. Sprinkle the edamame pods with the salt.
  5. Serve warm, or cover and refrigerate overnight and eat chilled.
