Center Spotlight: Cultural Celebrations and Holidays at BGCC

With the end of the year approaching, our December center spotlight is to share all of the holidays and cultural events that are celebrated around the center and at home by all of our BGCC families and everyone in our community. We are always looking for new ways to incorporate and teach different cultural traditions into our classrooms and make every person who walks into the center welcome! To celebrate Lunar New Year, an important Holiday in China that celebrates the beginning of spring and new year on a traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar with festivals and dinners, the children filled out a hongbao, ate kam’s, and helped decorate the classroom with their own artwork. For Chuseok, a Korean holiday to celebrate and gather during the full harvest moon with special plates of food, one of our children brought in snacks and a book for the class to read and translate to the class! For Hispanic Heritage Month, a celebration of the culture, histories, and contributions of Hispanic Americans, our very own Mrs. Erika held a fiesta in her classroom to spread inclusivity for a stronger nation. Thank you to the families and teachers who shared their traditions with us through activities, art, clothing, cuisine, music, stories, and more!

Here are all of the holidays that were celebrated by families from the center throughout the 2022 calendar year! We wish everyone Happy Holidays!
