HOWDY FAMILIES AND FRIENDS!

As always January flew by, and we find ourselves in February already! We have exciting activities planned this month. Read more to learn all about them!

Happy Lunar New Year!

The Reveille class learned all about Lunar New Year last week and worked together to create a Chinese dragon. Through their art work they were able to learn about Chinese culture. In Chinese culture, the dragon represents good luck, strength, and health. The Reveille class wanted to share this good luck with the rest of our center and proudly hung it in our front lobby.

5 Protective Factors

Walk Across Texas!

Walk Across Texas! is an 8-week program designed to help people of all ages establish the habit of regular physical activity. Over the next 8 weeks, your child will be walking with classmates. The goal is for each class to walk at least 830 miles, which is the distance across the state of Texas. You can learn more about the program by visiting: http://walkacrosstexas.tamu.edu

You and your family members are also invited to be a part of the program. You can help your child earn bonus miles for the class by staying active as a family. Keep track of the time spent active with your family on the Bonus Mile Log Sheet to add these totals to your child’s classroom goals. Every 20 minutes of activities earn your child 1 bonus mile.

We will also send home a weekly newsletter with tips to promote and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

To make things more interesting this year, the classroom who has the most miles will earn $200 toward classroom materials/supplies. The second place classroom will earn $100 toward classroom materials/supplies.

Thank you for supporting your child’s participation in the Walk Across Texas! program!
