Center Spotlight: Mandy McCann ’23

For the month of July, our center spotlight shines on Mandy McCann for a warm welcome to the Becky Gates Children’s Center. I am serving as our new Marketing Assistant Student Worker. I am now officially on board with the team to work with our website, Facebook, and events to share stories with the families about what goes on here at the center! My main goal is to stay active on the job in order to get the most out of my time here at BGCC.

I am from Keller, Texas and going to be a Senior this upcoming year at Texas A&M, majoring in Marketing with a concentration in Advertising Strategy. I am sad to see my college experience coming to an end this year, but excited to have the opportunity to work with marketing relations at BGCC to get my feet in the water before graduation. A little bit about me is I’ve stayed involved on campus over the years getting involved with a women’s organization, Aggie Belles, to develop my leadership and service skills, with Fish Camp to introduce incoming freshmen to all Texas A&M University has to offer, and a Freshman Leadership Organization, FEAST (Freshman Exemplifying Aggie Spirit Together), to carry on traditions and meet new people.

I have enjoyed my first month at Becky Gates Children’s Center! Everyone has been welcoming and always leaves their door open for me to ask questions while adjusting to my new position. I have already noticed how hardworking and caring every staff member is about their job and the kids around them. I have spent almost every summer either babysitting or volunteering with children so this was a great fit for me. The center encompasses the values of inclusivity and diversity in any way they can and I am excited to highlight that in my work. I am looking forward to being a part of the fun events they have planned for the rest of the summer.

We are happy to have her on our staff and are looking forward to a great rest of summer!
